Children and young people learn through play. In my yoga sessions, I use music, games, breathwork, and yoga stories to teach children to be aware of their body, mind, and emotions. Yoga enhances children's and young people’s flexibility, strength, coordination, concentration, and produces a sense of calmness.
Practicing yoga can teach children to build a connection with their inner self. Yoga also introduces children to mindfulness and relaxation practices.
When children and young people learn to accept and love themselves for who they are, to see the good in others, to focus and calm their minds, and to be aware of their innate abilities, they learn tools for resilience. Most importantly, yoga teaches children that relaxation is not only allowed; it is encouraged. Relaxing is not easy and learning to relax takes practice but yoga provides space for the mind to slow down and settle.
